Antica Farmacista Home Ambiance Fragrance

Home Ambiance Fragrance. That's what Antica Farmacista is. These are wonderful essential oils that are diffused into the air with the use of white birch reeds. These fragrance oils last for months. They come in scents like Essence of Winter which combines fig, mandarin, sandalwood, jasmine and clove. Amber features woody essences. Casablanca Lily is blended with exotic floral Ylang Ylang and clove. My personal favorite, and the one I have right now in two of the bathrooms in my home is Magnolia, Orchid & Mimosa. It's a wonderful light scent that isn't overpowering.

They certainly aren't cheap, but don't let that stop you from splurging and trying one of them. You can occasionally find them on sale. Even if you don't find them on sale, they are worth the money.

Choosing a Carving Knife

Well, along with the roaster that I needed to buy for our Thanksgiving dinner I needed a carving knife. Believe it or not, I decided to do some real brick and mortar store shopping. Sometimes I enjoy it, especially when I get to go to my favorite kitchen/gourmet store, Williams Sonoma. That's where I bought my two Global knives months ago.

I went into Williams Sonoma and looked at all the knives so beautifully displayed. I was immediately drawn to the Shun knives. The Shun carving knife on display was an absolute thing of beauty, and had the price to prove it. It was $130. There next to the Shun knives were my comfortable and familiar Global knives and the Global carving knife was $88.

Could it be true that the Shun carver with it's gorgeous blade and higher price tag was a better knife? Decisions, decisions.

The saleswomen seemed knowledgeable and went on to describe the differences in how the blades are manufactured and why the Shun carver had a hollow blade, etc. etc. I must admit that I was mesmerized by that blade, and yes, the knife felt wonderful in my hand. She suggested that she get the Shun carving set for me to see. I couldn't imagine how expensive the set must be. The Shun carving knife had a price tag of $130 and if I was reading the posted prices and descriptions correctly the fork had a price of $120. $120????? For a fork??

She brought out the Shun carving set and it was $240. So, I had seen the price of the fork correctly. How could a fork cost so much? After all, what does a fork do?

Well, she carefully unwrapped the Shun carving set and low and behold, the blade was nothing like the lovely mesmerizing carver in the display cabinet, it was much more like the carving blade on the much less expensive but just as good Global knife. She was just as surprised as I by this find. Decision made.

I came home with a Global carving knife that worked like a charm.

Oh, and the fork? I found one for $9.99 in Target. Wonders never cease.
